I. EURO Football Championship The European Football Championship (also known as UEFA EURO) is an official football tournament held every four years between European football teams organized by the European Football Federation (UEFA). Henri Delaunay, who was the General Secretary of the French Football Association, was the first person to come up with the idea to set up this tournament. In 1960, the first tournament took place in France and the first champion was the Soviet Union.
