THE PREMIER LEAGUE

The Premier League, also known as the EPL (stands for English Premier League), is the biggest and most fascinating tournament. It operates on a ranking system with the English Football League with 20 clubs have participated. Seasons often start from August to May. Each team will play 38 matches (playing all 19 other teams both home and away) and the rank will be based on their football result (points, win, draw, lost matches). Most of the games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

The Premier League maintains two trophies – the genuine trophy and a spare replica. On the final day of the season, two trophies are held in the event that two clubs could win the League on the final day of the season. In some rare events, there are more than two clubs are competing for the title on the final day of the season, then a replica won by a previous club is used.

Design of the trophy was based on the heraldry of Three Lions that is associated with English football, two are on the handles on either side of the trophy and the third is symbolized by the captain of the winning team as he raises the trophy. The ribbons that drape the handles represent the champion team colors of the league that year.

There are 20 clubs participate in the league and 30 games had played during the season (from August to May). Each club plays with others twice (once at their home stadium and once in their opponent's). Team gains three points for a win, 1 point for a draw and no point for a loss match. 

Teams are ranked with their football results, then goal difference (when the teams have the same points) and goal scored. If the teams are still equal, they are considered as the same position. If there is a tie match for the championship, a play-off match at a neutral venue decides rank.

The champion in season 24th in 2015-16 was Leicester City. Their football total point was 81 points, they took 23 wins, 12 ties and 3 losses in total 38 matches.

In season 2016-17, Chelsea, one of the top list club, took their fifth champions. Their football result was 93 points in total, they took 30 wins, 3 ties, and 5 losses out of 38 matches. 

In seasons 26th and 27th (2017-18 and 2018-19), Manchester City had continuously taken their fourth and fifth champion. Their football result total points were 100 points (in season 26th) and 98 points (in season 27th), they took 32 wins, 4 ties, 2 losses out of 38 matches in 26th season, and 32 wins, 2 ties, 4 losses out of 38 matches.
